So Audie and I are not professional bloggers by any means, and i can promise that our site will not be so entertaining as to take over your Friday night activities, but we wanted to create a page where friends and family can feel involved or informed in our 9 month journey.
So to catch you up to speed, we are 13 weeks pregnant and WOW were not prepared for all of the changes that occur, not just physically, but emotionally! I was always under the impression that nothing really changed until 5-6 months into things. BOY was i wrong.
I found out i was pregnant at 6 weeks, but i had an inkling that i was preggo about four weeks prior. I had taken two pregnancy tests and they came up negative so i dropped the issue - That was until some things with my body started changing.
I didn't have many symptoms but i suspected something was up because my sleeping habits had changed. Everyone who knows me well knows that i am NOT a morning person. I LOVE to stay up late and it is almost impossible to get me up before noon. Well - this was the first thing to change. I started getting extremely tired around 8 or 9 pm and would be wide awake (and hungry) at 5 or 6 am. This to me was enough evidence to prove that i was pregnant. So one day after work, i walked to the store and purchased two test (just to be sure). I came home and contemplated whether or not i should wait for Audie to get off of work or surprise him. I decided that i didn't want him to be disappointed if it came out negative so into the bathroom i went. Two minutes later i had the answer (if was a negative, you obviously would not be looking at this blog.)
My immediate reaction was excitement, but then i got nervous that Audie would be upset since we had not talked about having a baby. I decided that there was no going back so i immediately turned my attention to how i was going to tell Audie. I have heard of women making these elaborate meals with foods that hint (baby bake ribs, baby peas ect.) but i only had a 1/2 hour before Audie would be home. I decided to keep it simple and decorate out island with baby bottles, rattles, pacifiers, the pregnancy test and neon orange sign that said "your going to be a daddy." After all that i went to pick up Audie and brought him back to the house (trying to hide my new little secret) We walked into the apartment and Audie turned on the light a froze. I think i froze to waiting for his reaction. After about 30 seconds, Audie final came out of his shock induced coma and asked if this was a joke. :-)
The next morning i scheduled a doctors appointment (and took the second test to make sure the first one wasn't faulty) We got an appointment for the next day and the doctor confirmed that i was pregnant! I think we were just as excited as when we first found out! Audie and i had actually talked about waiting a while before we told our co-workers but we (and by we, i mean Audie) were so excited that by the end of the day EVERYONE knew we were expecting. :-)
The weeks following are when the symptoms really kicked in. First was the nauseousness. I didn't get morning sickness bad, and i only actually 'lost my lunch' a couple of times, but i sure did get queezzy a lot. Then, just when i thought i was getting over that, that other symptoms kicked in. moody, hungry, sleepy, headaches, soreness. None of it was unbearable - but like i said earlier, i just didn't expect it.
Now- at thirteen weeks, i feel like i have conquered the world (or at least my preggo symptoms)! I have my energy back, and am pretty much back to normal (pre-pregnancy). My belly is starting to pop a little bit, but it is not yet noticeable to a stranger (I JUST LOOK FAT!!!) :-)
Well - That gets you up to speed. Audie and i will try and be good little bloggers and keep this updated so check back for belly pics and updates.
